It's Okay to be Childless
Trendy 2009 Fashion Hair Trend: Braided Hair
The celebrity that has been sporting braids the most seems to be Lauren Conrad. And if you know Lauren's usual style (-very girly,) then you would probably agree that the braids really suit Lauren.
Fashion Hair Trend
And she even manages to use the braid to glam up her whole hairstlye and look.
Nicole Richie uses the braids to complement her boho, LA style.
Then there's the braided up-do.
I have to admit I think this hairstyle really doesn't suit Gwen Stefani. It looks so complicated and just... weird on her.
I love the way Rachel wore the braid. She manages to wear the braid without looking overly girly, keeping her casual and trendy look.
Despite how cute I think the braid is, I still haven't tried it out yet. It's probably because I don't want to look like I'm 14, but mostly because it requires some effort to pull together (as opposed to doing nothing.) What do you think of the braid trend? Have you tried it?

"Did you Add to it?"
I got a really interesting question this past Saturday at my daughters Soccer game. I try not to dwell on the negative, when it comes to creating content for this blog. But the comment keeps nagging at me. The best way to get something out of your system is to talk about it. It was not a extremely major incident, but none the less, it stood out to me as odd.
So I am sitting down with my fellow soccer moms, and a lady (mother of a family friend) that I have not seen for a while recognized me before I saw her. So she starts to say hey... I almost didn't recognize you. Then she makes her hands go up and down as she looks at my hair and says "You added to it!"
I at first I froze... lol. I didn't quite understand what the hell she was talking about. But then I realized that she somehow thought that my hair was artifice and that I could just add to it to make it longer. I decided to give her the benefit of the doubt, and assume that she did not mean any harm. Ignorance often comes from just not being educated on certain matters. So I just turned to her and politely said "It's growing." And she then said "Ohhh....." as if that was an odd theory; and then went on her way... lol. So it was not a huge thing. I just needed to get it out of my system. Thank you for reading!

Cheryl Cole Hairstyles
Is it just us or does celebrity hair seem to grow at a phenomenal rate? Well, this is not a superhuman skill gifted to those that make the A-list, or even the D-list, it's all down to the magic of hair extensions. Be they human hair extensions, synthetic ones or good old clip hair extensions, celebrities can't get enough of Rapunzel length locks.
Cheryl Cole's tumbling brunette tresses are courtesy of real hair extensions, the Lucinda Ellery salon being a favourite first port of call for faking length and fullness. In fact, Girls Aloud could keep the hair extension business afloat by themselves with Sarah, Cheryl, Kimberley and Nicola all choosing the best hair extensions to add glamour and variety to their styles.
They're not the only ones to opt for hair extensions to create that Hollywood babe look however. High School Musical hotties Vanessa Hudgens and Ashley Tisdale have both succumbed to the allure of lengthy locks without the irritating years of waiting the rest of us have to endure.
One thing we will say about this beauty trend is that cheap hair extensions are going to look just that, cheap. Don't believe us? Then take a look through our gallery and pay particular attention to the D-listers... you have been warned.

Shampoo and Cuticle Damage
Shampooing can be very damaging to your hair. According to Dr. Ali Syed, a shampoo with a pH level higher than 5.5 will cause an imbalance in the pH level of the hair and "rough- up" the cuticle layer. It will also strip the hair of it's natural oils. A stripped, rough cuticle layer sets the stage for combing and styling damage.
The cuticle layer, which tightly binds the fibers of the cortex layer and accounts for much of the hair's strength, can be dissolved by shampoo detergents to some extent. High pH detergents and products break down the cuticle layers of the hair shaft, therefore, exposing the hair cortex (hence a damaged weakened hair shaft). Coconut oil has a high affinity for the proteins in the hair, meaning it's great for preventing protein loss (cuticle chipping, damaging/abrasion due to washing and wet combing). Once you apply it to your hair, it prevents the constant swelling and shrinking which means less stress on the hair shaft.
Tips from Dr. Ali Syed:
• Cleanse only with high-quality conditioning/ detangling shampoos, formulated especially for excessively curly hair. Make sure that the pH of the shampoo is properly balanced, within the range of 4.5 and 5.56.5. Avoid harsh detergent formulas (those in the alkyl sulfates group, such as sodium lauryl sulfate) that strip the hair of its natural oils.
• While shampooing, try not to tangle the hair. Massage the shampoo into a rich lather throughout the hair and scalp, using the pads of your finger tips, not your fingernails. Be sure to rinse the hair thoroughly to remove all traces of shampoo.

How to Style Your Hair?
Curling
If your hair is naturally straight or wavy and you want it curly, then you have a couple of options. While your hair is still damp, apply some mousse and dry your hair. Use a curling iron to curl your hair and give it the style that you want. You can get curling irons in various sizes for different sized curls. If your hair is wavy, you can make your hair curlier with a curl enhancement styling product. Apply the product to damp hair and scrunch your hair or separate to small sections and gently twirl. Allow your hair to dry that way, then finger comb into the style that you want.
Straightening
If you choose to straighten your hair, you need to take care to adjust the heat so that your hair does not get burned. You should also apply a hair product that is designed to protect your hair from the heat. Straightening can make your hair silky and shiny if you use good products. You can actually notice a marked improvement in the condition of your hair if you use good products that promote the health of your hair. Separate your hair into small sections. Start near the roots and close the straightened over the section of hair. Draw the straightened down the length of the section of hair to straighten it.
Up Do
You can not learn how to style your hair without learning how to do at least one up do. To create a nice up do, gather your hair into a pony tail. You can gather it at the crown of the head or at the nape of the neck. Twist the hair and roll it, tucking under the ends. Pin with bobby pins. You can pull down some tendrils for a romantic effect.
Carefree, Tousled Look
This is a popular hair style and is great for any length hair. Use a pomade on your hair, then scrunch and tousle your hair, giving it a look that is easy, unkempt and carefree. Use your fingers as a comb and arrange your hair in the style that you want. Use your fingers to scrunch, twist and shape your hair. So with these simple tips, you can see that it is easy create fashionable hair styles.
Once you learn how to style your hair, you can be your own artist and be creative in making your own original, unique styles.

Nordic Naturals: Essential for Beautiful Hair
Ok, so there I was standing in front of a huge display of numerous varieties of fish oil brands. After a few moments, I summoned sales person over for some sound advice. Little did I know that I was about to strike gold. As it turns out, the sales rep suffers from eczema. Because of her skin ailment, she has come rely on the use of omega 3 oils not just for overall health, but to treat a specific condition. I knew from the moment she shared this piece of information that I was talking to an expert.
Even though I had already selected a bottle which I intended to buy, the store rep graciously let me in on her little secret. She grabbed a bottle of Nordic Naturals, held it up, and I'll never forget what she said next.
"I've tried every brand of fish oil on this shelf because I have a skin condition. No other brand that I've tried has worked for me like this one. I can usually see a difference in my eczema after a few days of using this."
Well that's all I needed to hear. It's one thing to buy fish oils because it's good for you. It's completely different when someone has identified a brand for you that actually provides noticeable results. Why do I care about which brand of fish oil someone with eczema likes?
I... no, we care because our hair needs it. Our hair is made up of several layers. One of those layers consists of lipids, i.e. fats. Essentail Fatty Acid (EFA) is litterally one of the components of the hair. Proper amounts of EFAs in the system actually helps improve the levels of elasticity and hydration in the hair. If you aren't getting sufficient amounts of EFAs, you are probably growing hair that may be dehydrated and vulnerable. Oh, and by the way, dry flaky scalp can also be impacted by an increase of EFAs in the diet.
Once a superior brand of Omega oil was identified by the store rep, I immediately made my purchase and returned home to research. The first thing I did was look online to find out what made this brand of Omega 3 so effective. It didn't take too long for me to find this taken from Nordic Naturals' website
Exceeds International Pharmaceutical Standards
Standards are set to protect consumers
Fish oil quality standards do not exist in the United States. To ensure ongoing quality, Nordic Naturals adheres to and exceeds the stringent Norwegian Medicinal Standard (NMS) and the European Pharmacopoeia Standard (EPS) for all products. These standards guarantee quality products by setting maximum allowances on peroxides, heavy metals, dioxins, furans, and PCBs.
Exceptional Freshness Levels
Freshness, which ensures product integrity and biological efficacy, may be the single most important quality of fish oils. Nordic Naturals’ patented, oxygen-free manufacturing process delivers peroxide values (indicators of freshness) down to absolute 0.0 mEq/kg, with an average of 0.75 mEq/kg or approximately 14 times below the Norwegian Medicinal Standard and European Pharmacopoeia Standard limits. The lower the peroxide value, the fresher the fish oil.
Exceptional Purity Levels
Purity is a significant concern among fish oil consumers
Nordic Naturals’ raw material is harvested from some of the cleanest waters in the world, and is tested by independent laboratories for heavy metals and over 210 other environmental contaminants. See research for more information on environmental toxins.
Award-Winning Taste
The key objections to taking fish oils are taste and aftertaste. Nordic Naturals utilizes a proprietary enzymatic process to ensure a completely repeat-free product. Our patented manufacturing process adds natural fruit essences into both the capsule and oil for a light, fruity taste.
Exclusive and Exceptional Raw Material
A great finished product starts with the best
Nordic Naturals starts with the best raw materials available: fish low on the food chain, which naturally contain low levels of impurities. All of our products are made exclusively from three fish species: Arctic Cod, Anchovies, and Sardines, as they are naturally high in the Omega-3 fatty acids, EPA and DHA. Additionally, we use organic evening primrose and borage oils whenever possible for our fish oil blend products. In fact, Nordic Naturals is one of the largest buyers of organic primrose and borage oils in the world.
Multi-Patented Manufacturing Process
Without chemicals or excessive heat
Nordic Naturals’ multi-patented manufacturing processes, accompanied by leading edge processing technologies, deliver fish oil with exceptional freshness and purity levels. Nordic Naturals uses several steps in processing the oils, from water and clay filters to an enzymatic molecular distillation process.
We use only the natural triglyceride form of fish oil
Triglycerides are considered the natural form of the essential fatty acid molecule. Over 98% of all fats ingested are in triglyceride form.
Next I scanned various websites and found numerous glowing reviews about this product. Most of those who tried it enjoyed the fact that the fishy aftertaste burp common to most fish oil supplements is not a concern with Nordic Naturals. I, for one, have not experienced any of this unwanted side effect. So I just wanted to share this wonderful find with you all. I do have to mention that this brand is a tad bit pricier than your average Omega 3 supplement but the concentration of EFAs per capsule is higher than most. Not only that, you are also getting a quality purified supplement compared to other oils on the store shelves. It think this brand will definitely be a keeper for me.
