They were gonna get there some how, some way! I made a comment on her blog and it prompted me to blog about the same thing, so forgive me Bunny for copying your topic, but I couldn't help it. It has been 40 years since Woodstock and

Conditioner - Distribute evenly into clean, damp hair. Leave in 1 to 3 minutes. Rinse thoroughly.Avoid contact with eyes. In case of contact, rinse thoroughly with water.

    Ingredients:

Shampoo - Aqua, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Cocamide Dea, Coca- Midopropyl Betaine, Hydrolyzed Quinoa, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Extract, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Extract, Quillaja Saponaria Bark Extract, Urtica Dioica (Nettle) Extract, Leptospermum Scoparium (Manuka) Honey (Mel), Polyquarternium-10, Styrene Acrylates Copolymer, Panthenol, Allantoin, Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein, Magnesium Citrate, Sodium Chloride, Methylchloroisothiazolinone, Methylisothiazolinone, Citric Acid, Propylene Glycol, Propylparaben, Methylparaben, Coumarin, Parfum/fragrance.

Conditioner - Aqua, stearalkonium chloride, glycerin, cetyl alcohol, mineral oil (paraffinum liquidum), cetearyl alcohol, hydrolyzed quinoa protein, cocos nucifera (coconut) fruit juice, leptospermum scoparium (manuka) honey (mel), hydrolyzed wheat protein, panthenol, tocopheryl acetate, magnesium citrate, maganese citrate, polysor- bate 60, potassium sorbate, petrolatum, stearyl alcohol, disodium edta, dmdm hydantoin, iodopropynyl butylcarbamate, peg-40 castor oil, methylparaben, propylparaben, benzyl salicylate, linalool, limonene, parfum/fragrance, red 4 (ci 14700), yellow 5 (ci 19140), blue 1 (ci 42090), red 33 (ci 17200).

    The Truth:

Shampoo - I've used this shampoo on numerous occasions i.e. after a prepoo and without one. I find that if I prepoo before hand, my hair retains more moisture as opposed to going straight into the shampoo'ing stage. This is the only way I will use it (after a prepoo). It is a little stripping due to the SLS. However, what I love most is the SCENT. It's a wonderful exotic tropical scent (smells like a Pina Colada drink). I'm not crazy over this shampoo, so I'm not sure if I will continue to use it.

Conditioner - Awesome conditioner, leave-in and deep conditioner. I must admit that it's not the greatest at detangling my hair when I'm 8 wks + post relaxer. I'm quite disappointed, but I figured since it doesn't have any silicone in the ingredients. At the same time, my NG is extremely coarse so anyone who has a hair type of 3b,c or 4a should have a better time at detangling their hair. This conditioner increases the moisture levels in my hair. Every time I use it I'm amazed at how moist, soft and thick my hair becomes.

Overall, I'm quite pleased with the duo, however, I think I might just stick with the conditioner- still undecided about the shampoo. I also noticed that these products have the same essential ingredient "Hydrolyzed Quinoa Protein" as the Aveda Damage Remedy Line. This would be a great alternative, but for less! =]

    Hair Coloring Tips

With the vast array of hair color choices out there today, it can be hard to know which ones would look good on you. You know you want to do something different, but you have no idea where to start. Your professional colorist would best be able to help you here, but to get a good head start, here are some basic hair coloring tips to help you choose or change your hair color.

The first step is to decide exactly what it is you want to do. Are you just wanting to cover gray? Are you wanting a subtle change or something radical that will completely change your image? How much upkeep are you willing to do? Do you want to just do hi-lights or lo-lights to your natural color? Do you want something permanent or short term? A lot of choices I know!

If you're new to hair coloring, you may want to do either a temporary or semi-permanent color to start out with. A temporary hair color is a color rinse that will wash out in a shampoo or two. A semi-permanent color typically lasts for about 6 weeks or more (depending on how often you shampoo your hair). Compared to a permanent hair color which needs to grow out and requires frequent root touch-ups, these may be better choices for the newbie. Although any hair color can be corrected if needed most of the time, it takes a lot of time, trouble and money. Trying something a little less committed will give you more of an idea of what you like without damaging your hair in the process.

Ok, so if you just want to cover gray, the choice is relatively easy. Just find a color that matches your own. However, if you want to do something different, there are some things you need to take into consideration. That gorgeous strawberry blonde color may be stunning on your best friend, but will do absolutely nothing for you but make you look washed out and sickly. The hair color you choose has to be compatible with your skin tone and eye color. If you have very pale, cool toned skin, an ash color with its cool undertones will probably complement you. Cool toned people normally do better with black, those crazy, vibrant colors, and very light blondes. If you have warm features, like golden brown eyes and golden brown skin, then you should stick with a warm hair color.

Colors with golden and red tones normally look good on you. If you're not sure, check out your closet! You normally choose clothing in colors that compliment your coloring. If you have a lot of cool colored clothing like green, blues, and violets then you're most likely a "cool". If you have an expanse of warm colors like reds, oranges and yellows, then you're a "warm". There are some nuances you need to remember though. For instance, if your face is red from acne or other skin conditions, you don't want to choose a red color that will accentuate that. Instead, you'll want to choose a color that softens the red tones in your face. If your skin is sallow, then don't choose a haircolor with a lot of yellow to it. Compliment it instead by choosing a color with richer tones.

Remember, you can always do something more subtle at first, especially if you're choosing to go with a permanent hair color. Hi-lights are a great way to add some tones and interest to your natural color. Lo-lights add some darker tones that will help show off your natural hi-lights that you already have. You can do your entire head or just specific spots to show off some of your best features. For example, you can hi-light around your face to draw attention to your eyes, or you can add some color to your crown to accentuate your haircut. You can even just "tip" your hair with a different color to bring out the texture of a new cut.

Be careful if doing your color by yourself! If you're not familiar with color and how it works you can easily do something that will cause you to go running to the nearest salon with a scarf around your head praying someone will be able to make you look human again. Here are some basic things to remember:

    1. A color will not lift a color. If you have colored hair already and it's dark, but you decide to go lighter, you're going to have to use bleach. The same goes if you have naturally dark hair and want to go blonde. A color will normally only lift four levels. I would highly recommend going to a colorist in this situation as bleach can be tricky.

    2. Opposites on the color wheel will neutralize the opposite color. For example, if you have too much red in your hair, an ash color with green undertones will cancel out the red.

    3. Take precautions before swimming with colored hair. The chlorine in a pool and the salt water in the ocean can turn your hair green.

    4. Never perm after a color. The chemicals in the perming solution will lighten your hair color.

    5. If you've used a henna hair color before, wait for that to grow out before you use a chemical color. Mixing the two normally does not bring about a good result.

Remember, if you're not sure, choose something more subtle at first. You can gradually go more radical from there. If you're having a hard time deciding what colors would be for you, head to your nearest salon. The professional colorists there can give you many ideas of what would look good on you. Hair coloring is something that can be loads of fun, just be sure to follow these basic tips!

    Featured Reader - Natty

Natty contacted me a while back, and I was very impressed by her blog. She is a designer who crochets and creates various crafts. I asked her a few questions, and here's what she had to say:

    1. How did you learn to crochet? Today its very easy to learn crochet/tricot, the world of Internet brought us that blessing. I first learned the basics from my family (grandmother and mother) but the Internet is where I most learned and where I learned to expand my creations into "modern" creations. I read blogs, participate in google groups and watch youtube videos. There is teaching in every language, from the Latin and German languages, to the Arabic and Russian. For English speakers here is a start and I cannot forget to mention my first online teacher Elaine Crochê (Portuguese).

    2. How do you decide what you are going to make? Well it is hard I confess... I have a list of things I want to make and I try to start on the things I need for me at that moment. Now that its summer, I tend to make more bikinis and tops in terms of clothing.

    3. Do you sell your items? Or make custom orders? I sell my items, but they are custom made because I don't enjoy that factory feel of making the same product over and over again. And this is an advantage for the people who buy from me because I do it especially for them. I don't use patterns as a sure thing, I try to adapt the design with and to the client and try to make every piece special.

    4. What part of the world do you live in? I live in Portugal, which is a country in the southwest Europe. We form a peninsula with Spain - Iberia Peninsula. So to North and East we have Spain, on the South the Atlantic (and Morocco’s) and to West is the Atlantic again. We also have two sets of islands - Açores and Madeira.

    5. How has your culture or environment influence your creativity? I guess I am a mix of many cultures that my country has. Portugal has been under the power of the Arabs, Romans, Celts, Spain and others - all those cultures left their legacy here. We cannot forget the role that Portugal had during the "Conquer of the Seas" during the XV century and of course our African/Asian colonies. In my works I try to show myself as the citizen of the world that I am and not just Portuguese, even tough I love and embrace my nest. My biggest influences comes from Africa, I have a heart connection to Mother Africa ever since I was born (my mother says so). My family is a big influence as well. Both my great grandmas made loom work, crochet and other crafts. One of my grandma’s hand-made jewelry and the other is a seamstress, who crochets and does beautiful traditional Portuguese rugs - Tapetes de Arraiolos. I guess it's genetic as well!

    Styles For Long Hair

The beauty of long hair as always been viewed as attractive and alluring. Even those who say they prefer short hair, can't deny the natural charm of long hair. Those of us who choose to wear our hair long, do so for different reasons.

Many women feel that long hair is easier to care for, especially if most of it can be pulled up. Hair that is long enough for a pony tail makes a style of its own. Pulling back the top part of your hair in a clip is an easy, but classic style. With a side part you can pin back the side without the part and create a timeless look.

Braiding is another way to restrain your hair and add dimension at the same time. The act of braiding, is an art form that has been passed down through many generations. The more you braid the better you will get at it, remember practice makes perfect! A long French braid down the back projects a soft, romantic look for long hair. Braiding your hair down one side so that it hangs over the shoulder is a exotic look that goes well with shoulder revealing clothing. The long side braid as accompanied many evening gowns down the red carpet!

The updo is a hairstyle that has been popular for centuries, women didn't always have the means to cut their hair. Their hair was kept long, but needed to be up and out of the face for necessity. Women would twist their around into a ball and pin it down, or wrap a long braid around their head and pin it down. Of course updo's have evolved a great deal, with the invention of hairspray and the styling method of back-combing and back-brushing. The updo's of the 60's were made to be worn for a week or more.

Now days we have updos to represent our many different moods and fashion choices. One modern choice is twisting small sections of hair to the crown and pinning them down, then the ends are spiked with product and a flat iron. The ends can also be curled with a small or medium size curling iron.

An updo can also be created by making one or more ponytails at the crown, then curl small sections and pin them down around the ponytail. You can take a small piece of the ponytail, wrap it around the tail to hide the elastic band, and pin it in the back. Leave some of the ends free and just let them hang in curls.

The easiest updo is the one that made by twisting your long hair into a ponytail that curls into a coil, then wrap an elastic band around it to hold it. Along with braiding, creating updo's takes patience and practice.

Long hair with long bangs swooped to the side is a popular right now. Or you can have bangs that are cut straight across the brows. With or without bangs, long hair needs to be trimmed every 2 to 4 months to keep the ends healthy. Trimming also defines the look of the ends, keeping your long hair beautiful.
