Lawyers for Britney Spears and Kevin Federline faced off in a hearing Monday to hammer out a holiday visitation schedule for their children.

According lawyers for Britney Spears and Kevin Federline faced off in a hearing Monday to hammer out a holiday visitation schedule for their children. According to Federline’s lawyer, the former couple agreed to share time with Preston, 2 and Jayden James, 1, over Christmas.

“There was a proposal by Kevin that the holidays be shared in a certain fashion. That was agreed to. That’s the best for everyone involved,” Federline’s attorney, Mark Vincent Kaplan, said Monday. “[Federline] was pleased it was accomplished without really submitting it to the court.”

Speaking after dining at the Palm restaurant in West Hollywood, Kaplan declined to list the split of time for Christmas morning, but said it was the best way to celebrate for the children.

“It’s important for the kids to spend time with each of the parents – especially on special days,” said Kaplan. “And that is Kevin’s desire.”

Spears’s lawyer had no comment after the hearing Monday.

During Thanksgiving, Spears took the boys to the Four Seasons Hotel in Beverly Hills for a brunch of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. Later that afternoon, the singer dropped them at Federline’s home.

Also at issue in court Monday was the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services’ request for access to the former couple’s case file – in particular documents, which have been redacted.

A lawyer for the county was present in the courtroom, and requested that media be removed before he addressed the court. Neither Spears nor Federline was present.

The couple’s next scheduled hearing is set for Jan. 23.
